Burial Ground – SOLD

A few years ago, I saw an exhibit of ancient burial art from around the world. The process of bringing memory to life through art resonated with my own use of traditional motifs in contemporary aesthetic contexts. This mosaic speaks to the capacity of art to preserve the memory of what has been faded by death, loss, or time. Though clearly dead, the skeletal figure represented in the mosaic is reunited with the breath of life through the celebratory colors, shapes, and adornments of the mosaic.
